Every year the North Central Reading Council presents one winner with the Celebrate Literacy Award.  This individual goes above and beyond the call of duty in providing students with literacy rich environments.  This year our winner is Sara Medalen.  Sara has been a North Central Reading Council member for many years.  Sara has gone above and beyond with creating literacy rich environment for the students at Sunnyside Elementary, but also for students all over the city.  Sara started a program called Books and Braids at Sunnyside, where students can sign up to have their hair done while reading her a book.  Sara has also been instrumental in getting Little Free Libraries set up around the city.  Sara has also worked hard with a fellow teacher to bring books into the hands of young girls in Haiti with her Girl Power project.  This is a well deserved awarded and North Central Reading Council couldn't be more proud and excited to award to it to Sara!!

Below are the instruction link and registrations.  I have attached the evaluations for the class.  Please print off as many as you need and send them to me when the class is over.  We will send you a grade sheet once the registration is complete.

 Once the registration page opens, please ignore the Home/Register/Log In/My Cart section at the top of the page and

1. Click on MiSU Professional Development Workshops.
2. Click on the Fall 2017 link.
3. Click on the 2017 NCRC Reading Connections link.
4.  On the next page, click on Add to Cart.
5.  When the next page appears, check your “order” and click on Checkout.
6.  The Delivery Address page will then open.  Be sure that every item marked with an * is filled in (use n/a if necessary) and click on the Continue Unregistered button.
7. On the next page, Payment Methods, please complete the required sections.  Near the bottom of the page there is a section for the billing address.  If your delivery and billing addresses are the same, check the “Use current delivery address as billing address.” If your billing address is different, you will need to complete that section.  When you have completed all of the sections, click on the Use This Payment Method button.
8. Please review the information below, and then click the “Submit Your Order” button. (located near the top of the screen)
9. The final screen is the one you can print out for your records.
10. You will also receive a confirmation email with your “order number” and details.

Hello Literacy Leaders!
NCRC is one of the sponsors for the May 2nd Community Family Literacy Event & Title I Fair! And we need you to help make this event spectacular!

Below are the following areas where Volunteers are needed! Please let me or Cheryl Hagar know ASAP if you are available to work a shift and which area you would like to volunteer. The shifts during the event are from 4:45-5:45,  5:45-6:45, and 6:45-7:30. We are also looking for set up and tear down volunteers before and after the event. Many hands make light work!!
